Eckstein and Mariott emerged in the energy-sapping, hot conditions to claim the overall titles in the $250,000 series.

Defending Nutri-Grain men’s champion Shannon Eckstein will lead a host of stars including Australian champions Pierce Leonard and Kristyl Smith and Matt Poole at the Oceans 38 carnival at North Burleigh on Saturday and Sunday while defending women’s champion Naomi Flood will have her final hit out in a host of events at the Queenscliff carnival on Sydney’s Northern Beaches tomorrow.

An ongoing back injury has forced five time Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain Ironman Series Champion, Zane Holmes, out of the 2010 Series and the remainder of the season.

 

Holmes today confirmed that the injury, which has affected the discs in his lower back, has prevented him from full training for the last three to four months.
